About

My name is Danny Reed

Danny Reed is a self-taught oil painter residing in Driggs Idaho. Without any formal education or background in the fine arts, Danny has been working on his craft for over the past 6 years. Since moving to the area in 2010, Danny has spent many hours connecting with the natural world around him through photography and painting. Once he discovered oil paint he has not looked back, creating vibrant pieces inspired by the breathtaking scenery and wildlife of the Teton mountain range and surrounding areas. The absolute joy of fly fishing married with a passion for the creative arts, that being anything from drawing to photography has led him to explore the world of painting with oils as his medium of choice.

My work is a display of appreciation to the natural world that surrounds me here—trout-filled rivers, majestic mountains, and sweeping landscapes that seem to stretch forever. Each piece I create feels like a new adventure. The act of composing, mixing color and laying it down on canvas reminds me of the many adventures I have had in this incredible place. The adventure begins with blending impressionist brush strokes that slowly find their end in subtle attempts of realism. Sometimes I even let a little abstraction sneak in just to keep things free flowing and interesting. My goal is to capture not just the image, but the spirit of these wild animals and landscapes. Painting is my way of expressing and sharing the beauty experienced through this wonderful place that I'm fortunate to call home. .
